Hamilton

The quaint town of Hamilton, located between Leesburg and Purcellville in western Loudoun County, was first settled in the 1730’s. Like many towns, it took it’s name from the original shop owner there, and was known as Hamilton Store until officially named in 1835. (That’s when Hamilton got it’s post office, as well.)

As a stop on the Washington and Old Dominion Rail line (which is now a hiking/biking/walking trail), Hamilton was a favorite weekend getaway spot for city folks fleeing the heat. Back in the day, there was a 1.5 mile boardwalk through the town and a dance hall. In the late 1800’s Hamilton was Loudoun’s second largest town.

Unfortunately, a large fire in 1926 consumed much of the town’s commercial buildings and tourism to the town never recuperated. Now, Hamilton is a thriving residential community with a population between 500 and 600.

Homes in Hamilton range from beautiful Victorians along the main street to cozy established neighborhoods. Several new construction communities have popped up in recent years on the outskirts of town, taking advantage of the scenic views.

Coach’s Corner, Where Everybody Knows Your Name

One of my favorite shows growing up was Cheers, a sitcom about a Boston bar and the lives of the people who frequented it. The theme song and tag line of the show was “Where Everybody Knows Your Name”. I think every community yearns for that kind of place and thanks to Rob & Jen […]

CarrHomes Hits a Home-Run with Waterford Creek

We’ve always felt part of the reasoning behind having an estate was to feel secluded. Unfortunately most of the new communities we’ve seen offering 3+ acre lots fall short. Don’t get me wrong, rolling terrain is great for a golf course or a farm but sitting in the middle of a field isn’t my idea […]

After a strong 2013 which saw sales rise 21% most of us in the real estate industry were expecting a banner year for 2014. It didn’t quite turn out that way, however a strong fourth quarter has us optimistic for a better 2015. Let’s take a look… Our first chart shows a month by month breakdown of the actual […]

LoCo Market Update: Whatcha Waiting For?

Don’t be distracted by the gnarly old tree, this is a picture of a fence. They are uncomfortable to sit on and people tend to be on one side or the other. It sure seems like this is where all the buyers are right now and it’s kinda tough to understand. Let’s take a look… […]

    Cutting Down the Nets

Last week we wrapped up our Western Loudoun Basketball League season with the playoffs. Maddie’s 5th grade Tigers team was able to win Coach Castellano his first championship in an exciting 21-18 win over the Cardinals (the first basketball trophy in our house). My 4th grade Commodores weren’t so lucky. We fell 13-11 in the first […]

    Ever Heard of a CSA?

About nine years ago Heather began having migraines on a regular basis. After a few doctors appointments and some research on our own, we realized many were being caused by chemicals in our food.
