Purcellville Neighborhoods

111 0764 Village Case

The Village Case neo-traditional community opened in 2004, with  Michael Harris Homes and Patowmack Homes as the original builders.  The neighborhood is graced by homes with big front porches set close to brick sidewalks, detached garages behind the homes, and architectural details echoing the historic districts of Loudoun’s towns.

Five years after the first houses were built, a  new crop of builders stepped in to finish constructing homes on the land which was once Case Farm. Carrington Homes is currently offering several home types on both large and small lots near the rear of the neighborhood.

The neighborhood has several homes that front to Maple Avenue, and is located near Blue Ridge Middle School. An open park area in the center of the neighborhood was originally to be bordered by smaller shops with living space above, though those plans have apparently been set aside for now.

Playing a Round at Creighton Farms Golf Club

I’ve played a lot of high caliber golf courses, Congressional, Pinehurst, Treyburn (that’s Michael Jordan’s club in Durham, NC) just to name a few. It takes more than a gate and a high initiation fee to stand out. Along with perfect conditions the layout must be challenging, the setting spectacular, and the service impeccable. It was […]

On Your Mark, Get Set, Trot!

In the land of overachievers that is LoCo, there is no way fitness takes a backseat. No matter how hot or cold it gets we see runners, walkers, and cyclists on the streets. Even though we aren’t a family of runners it’s hard not to notice the number of Turkey Trots in our area. Around the […]

    LoCoMusings Is World Wide

When we first moved here almost 16 years ago we didn’t know a soul. We stayed in a hotel for two months while we tried to get a feel for where we might want to live. That wasn’t fun, although we can look back now at laugh at how bad it was. I’m sure we […]

    Commuting from LoCo to DC?

Working with so many clients relocating to Loudoun over the years, I had plenty of opportunity to see firsthand how much of a role commuting distance played in the homebuying decision. With so many residents of Loudoun commuting to Herndon, Reston, Tysons/McLean, and into DC itself, the amount of time spent trying to get from […]

LoCo Market Update: Whatcha Waiting For?

Don’t be distracted by the gnarly old tree, this is a picture of a fence. They are uncomfortable to sit on and people tend to be on one side or the other. It sure seems like this is where all the buyers are right now and it’s kinda tough to understand. Let’s take a look… […]

    Halloween Spooktaculars Close to Home

That picture is a few of the girls on the softball team I coach (including Natalie) as they were leaving the Field of Screams. After our tournament in Olney, MD we took a team field trip through the Paintball Apocalypse and the Trail of Terror and had a blast. It’s not for the faint of heart, but all the girls […]

    Not Just a House… It’s Our Home

This photo was taken in September 2004, as the finishing touches were being put on our new house in Purcellville. It was lacking front door paint and shutters here, but that got handled and we moved in shortly thereafter. As of today, we have been in our home for 10 years. Honestly, we thought we’d […]

    It’s Time For Pumpkin Chunkin’

Last year I took the girls up to Wayside Farm in Berryville to grab our pumpkins and wrote about all the fun we had. It’s time to make another trip up there, the farm opens tomorrow. If you’ve got kids under 12 they’ll definitely enjoy it. Cheers, Mike

    Dinner at TRIO

One of the perks of writing LoCoMusings is an occasional invitation to try new restaurants. A couple of weeks ago Heather and I accepted one of those invitations and had dinner at TRIO Grill in Merrifield.
