Loudoun’s YOUTH MUSIC association is holding an instrument drive this month, for use in its’ program to provide instruments to underprivileged and low-income students. YOUTH MUSIC was created to offer a free classical music program to kids that otherwise would not be able to afford it. The Society Youth Orchestra is supported by volunteer music teachers and sponsored by the YMPPA.
All types of orchestra instruments are needed, including:
-
Strings – Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, and Harp
-
Woodwinds – Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, and Bassoon
-
Brass – Trumpet, Cornet, French Horn, Baritone, Trombone, Tuba
-
Percussion – Drums, Timpani, Cymbals, Xylophone
They can also use keyboards, pianos, recorders, guitars, music stands, music books, metronomes, and other music accessories. Old or unused instruments are welcomed! Â They will also accept financial donations, and are always looking for volunteers to help as mentors or teachers in the program. More information can be found by calling 703-728-2589, or visiting their website at www.YMPPA.org .
