Heather and I have been LoCo residents for almost 17 years and much of that time has been spent in Leesburg. I work out of our Century 21 Redwood Leesburg office on Loudoun Street and of course before that were 12 years at Westpark Golf Club. Part of what makes Leesburg special is the history of downtown and the unique flavor of places like Cajun Experience, MacDowell Brew Kitchen, Tuscarora Mill, Jasmine’s, and Lightfoot. We have met many of these business owners and have always made it a point to support them in every way possible.
So this past Tuesday when we came across an article in the Loudoun Times Mirror it broke our hearts. Apparently the increased competition from One Loudoun and the Village at Leesburg is pulling patrons away from downtown and causing those owners some financial heartache. In an effort to combat the dip in sales many of the downtown restaurants are attempting to partner with Spotluck, an app designed to help you discover local restaurants while saving money at the same time. We downloaded it and although a Leesburg hub isn’t available yet it does look pretty cool.
In the mean time, how about planning a lunch at one of these great places sometime in the next month. You might even want to check out First Friday on November 6th, there are lots of fun activities planned and it’s always a good time.
Cheers,
Mike
