This week’s news, notes, and nuggets for Loudoun:

  • $1.83 billion budget for LoCo: The FY2014 budget for the county was presented to the Board of Supervisors this past week. Of note, the $1.23 per $100 assessed value should keep that property tax bill flat.
  • The Cavalry is coming: After narrowing thousands of suggestions from local fans to three, Loudoun Professional Soccer selected Cavalry FC as its’ nickname. The club is slated to begin play in 2014 in a stadium proposed for One Loudoun, which they will share with the our minor league baseball team the Loudoun Hounds.
  • Picture this: We always support local businesses, so when we come across a new one we like to let you know. Alimond Photography opened it’s doors recently with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Leesburg Mayor Kristen Umstattd. Good luck!
  • Letters of intent: A number of local high school seniors participated in National Signing Day. Although football gets the most recognition, we had star athletes sign in soccer and baseball as well.

Still cool to wake up to snow that wasn’t there the night before. First one of the winter for quality snowballs. Enjoy your weekend!

Cheers,
Mike
