Courts of St Francis

Courts of St Francis Real estate, Courts of St Francis homes for sale

The Scoop:

The Courts of St Francis neighborhood has captivated us since the homes started popping up there. With the brick sidewalks, wide front porches, and neighborly feel, it’s a popular neighborhood in Purcellville that makes you think of traditional historic district homes. (Similar to the Village Case neighborhood on Maple Avenue.) It’s a small enclave of a community: there are only 70 homes (all single family), and just four streets: Amalfi Court, Desales Drive, Positano Court, and Ravello Court. There’s not a lot of turnover, either–homeowners love life here, so only a handful of homes come on the market each year.

Homes in the community all share similar floorplans and were built by University Communities between 2002 and 2007. (Three remaining homesites were finished between 2011 and 2015.) Floor plan models included the Annapolis, the Ashland Glen, the Augusta, the Charleston and the Richmond, characterized as center hall colonials with open floorplans, tall ceilings, center island kitchens and plenty of space.  Most have at least four bedrooms and two full baths with a main level half bath. Two car garages are tucked behind the homes.

What We Like:

This community might truly be the most centrally located Purcellville neighborhood! It’s in the heart of town, tucked behind the Purcellville library, which puts it just two blocks from downtown and the restaurants and shops there. If you have school-aged children, Emerick Elementary is about a half mile away, and both Blue Ridge Middle and Loudoun Valley High School are just about a mile away as well.

We’ve wandered through this community on evening walks numerous times, and it remains lovely throughout the seasons. In the middle of the neighborhood is a tree preserve area, so many of the homes on Desales Drive and Positano Court have lovely views from their front porches. And some homes have lovely courtyards sitting in between the house and the detached garage.
