The Scoop:
Originally settled in 1764 as the โVillage of Purcellโs Store,โ the Town of Purcellville is now home to nearly 10,000 residents. Even with the tremendous population and business growth in the area, it retains the original small town charm and feel. The vibrant historic downtown area is home to Magnoliaโs at the Mill Restaurant (located within an original mill building), the restored train station that once served the Washington & Old Dominion Rail Line (now a walking/hiking/biking trail), shops, boutiques, and other restaurants. Stately Victorian homes line Main Street, and newer neighborhoods have been constructed to echo that traditional architecture.
Purcellville is home to Franklin Park, which includes the Franklin Park Arts Center, a community pool, a catch and release pond, walking and equestrian trails, playground area, baseball fields, softball fields, football practice fields, a sand volleyball court, tennis courts, disc golf course, and in-line hockey courts.
What We Love:
We have lived in Loudoun County since 1999, and we’ve been in Purcellville since 2004. Over that time, we’ve watched P’ville go from a tiny historic Loudoun town to a vibrant, busy community with plenty of things to do and see. You get the beauty of western Loudoun- dirt/gravel roads are not too far off the main paths- with the convenience of being 15 minutes from downtown Leesburg and 30 minutes from an international airport. We raised our kids here and are still very much in love with our life here. It’s not hard to feel right at home in Purcellville.
