Shenstone Reserve

Shenstone Reserve
Leesburg, Virginia
The Scoop:
If you ever drive the ‘back way’ between Leesburg and Purcellville, you’ll already know about this hidden gem of a neighborhood off of Dry Mill Road. The location is unique, right across from the Washington and Old Dominion Trail, near the Loudoun County Fairgrounds not too far from where Route 7 intersects with Route 9. This enclave of Toll Brothers homes was built between 2011 and 2018. It’s just around the corner from the back half of Toll Brothers’ Shenstone Farm neighborhood, which was built between 2001 and 2006. While many of Loudoun’s new construction communities in the last 10 years have tended to clear-cut the land, this neighborhood did not. Homes are on ample lots, trees were preserved, and many homesites have lovely wooded surroundings.
Most of the homes have 3-acre lots, although there are some approaching 4 acres and a couple on slightly larger lots. The rolling terrain provides privacy in the wooded areas and lovely views on the more open farmland lots. Shenstone Reserve can definitely be considered a luxury community, and the homes all have ample square footage, multiple entertaining areas, and luxury touches. When the homes were being built, standard features included 9-foot ceilings, double staircases leading up from a two-story foyer, and at least four bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms.
What We Like:
While the homes are large, they were built to still feel welcoming and non-formal. And since the community is so small, it’s very private and quiet; most of the streets end in cul-de-sacs. The location allows for easy access to Route 7 and Route 9, but the proximity to the W&OD Trail is a huge benefit for walking and biking. The neighborhood is simultaneously tucked away but still close to everything: downtown Leesburg, with all of the shops and restaurants, is only 3.5 miles away. And there are 19 local wineries within a 20-mile radius of the community.
