Beacon Hill

Beacon Hill Leesburg neighborhood

The Scoop:

The Beacon Hill neighborhood sits atop Catoctin Mountain just west of Leesburg. The original estate and rolling landscape was owned by 1950s radio and television personality Arthur Godfrey. Now the community is full of luxury homes and covers nearly 1,100 acres with breathtaking views. Homes were built with a variety of architectural designs, and the original builders include Apex Custom HomesCraftmark Homes, and Waterford Home Builders. The Clairvaux Equestrian Center is on site and offers year round boarding, horseback riding lessons, and training.

The neighborhood was built to be a golf community, but The Golf Club of Virginia at Beacon Hill closed in 2006. News broke in June of 2023 that a group had stepped in to reopen it, and Beacon Hill Golf Club is now open again and offering founding memberships. The golf course is famously difficult, and received industry acclaim for the original Johnny Miller design. It has been reimagined, but we haven’t played it since the reopening to see what’s changed. More info to come as they build out a clubhouse and layer in additional amenities.

Homes are sited on either hamlet or estate lots, ranging from 1 to 8 acres, and prices adjust accordingly. The rolling hills in the neighborhood make for beautiful topography and views. All of the homes fall squarely into the luxury category, and this community has some of the most beautiful outdoor living spaces we’ve seen in Loudoun County.

What We Love:

While homes are generally very large–we showed one home that was over 10,000 finished square feet– the luxury features and beautiful layouts can still feel welcoming and non-formal. And there is something for everyone when considering lot placement; some homes sit on private wooded lots while others have wide open mountain views. (At least, as much of a mountain view as you can have in Loudoun.) Sunsets and sunrises are spectacular here.
