On April 17th I wrote a post about several builders that were struggling in Loudoun County. Equity Homes has gone out of business (leaving several half built out communities in its wake throughout the DC metropolitan area) and KB Home has pulled out of the mid-Atlantic region entirely, for the time being. I had mentioned that Basheer & Edgemoore, a luxury builder, was marketing lots for sale in its Park Meadows enclave community in Leesburg.
I took a drive through the Park Meadows community yesterday, and was pleased to see that probably half of the lots in the community do in fact have completed homes on them. There are two ‘spec’ homes available, one on Conova Court for $858,900 and another on Park Meadows Court for $944,500 (feel free to call or email me if you want more info on either of these). The model is offered for sale at $2,295,000 as well. There is no mention on their website of the lots for sale without the new build contract, so I’m unsure if they are still pursuing that route as well. But it doesn’t look like they are pulling out of the neighborhood at this point.
Cheers,
Heather

[…] UPDATE: Since I wrote this post, WUSA 9 News has picked up on the story and done some digging to find out what is happening with Equity Homes. They are reporting that some homeowners who purchased new homes from Equity are reporting construction defects that haven’t been fixed, and at least one homeowner was served papers from a subcontractor that was not paid for the work they did completing their home. You can view the story here. Also, I took a closer look at the Park Meadows community and posted an update on that as well. […]
