The Scoop:

The Exeter neighborhood grew from what was originally a 4,000-acre 18th-century plantation that anchored the east side of Leesburg. Now, the vibrant community includes 399 single-family homes and 430 townhouses, built between 1984 and 1999. Community amenities include a private swimming pool and clubhouse, tennis courts, basketball courts, a multi-purpose court, walking trails, and multiple playgrounds. The HOA sponsors numerous activities throughout the year, highlighted by pool parties, an annual yard sale, and a fall festival.

Dr. Wilson Cary Selden built this original manor home in the Georgian style.. The home was occupied during the course of the Civil War by troops on both sides, and General Jubal Early used it as his headquarters. The Battle of Ball’s Bluff was actually fought on part of the property. Unfortunately, fire destroyed it in the 1980s. However, one of the plantation’s remaining buildings is still standing and serves as the community center for the neighborhood.

Along with the many benefits of the Exeter neighborhood, its location is right in the heart of Leesburg.
