Here is this week’s news, notes, and nuggets for Loudoun:
- It’s All Write: The Loudoun County Public Library has announced it’s third annual short story competition for students in grades 6-8 and 9-12. There are a series of workshops in conjunction with the contest and all entries must be submitted by March 3rd.
- Vulture attack: So apparently there are almost 200 vultures trying to make their home in Leesburg, and we’ve heard that a large number of them are circling above Hamilton as well. This week, federal wildlife officials are going to do their best to scare them off, at least from Leesburg.
- Nice boots: 5th graders at Little River Elementary in South Riding designed colorful boots in art class and the teacher sent them off to a western wear company call Country Outfitter. The company’s blog then featured the designs and sent the students $1,000 in art supplies. Kinda cool!
- Top Honor for two local football players: Two Stone Bridge High School football players will be participating in the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, TX this Saturday. Jonathan Allen is headed to Alabama and Ryan Burns has committed to Stanford. Good luck this weekend!
Have a great weekend!
Cheers,
Mike
