December 2007 is when Heather wrote the first post on this blog and LoCo became part of our vernacular. We had lived here for 8 years at that point, and I had never heard anyone use that nickname for the county. Not saying she coined the phrase, but here we are almost six years later and we have LoCo Crossfit, LoCo Racing, numerous LoCo groups on Facebook, and our good friend at VivaLoudoun uses LoCo all the time in his top 5’s. Heck, we even have our own LoCo beer thanks to Corcoran Brewing Company’s LoCo I.P.A.
You can imagine our delight when we found the newest member of the ‘LoCo’ family, LoCo Beans, in the little red silo at Market Station in Leesburg. If you have been following along with Heather over the last 6 years, you would know how much she loves coffee… so this was the best thing since sliced bread! I had a chance to talk with Chau Pham and Paul Modolo (they’re the owners) as they were roasting some deliciousness and discovered they had their one year anniversary on June 16. I have no idea how we missed the opening, but I can promise you we will become regular customers.
Cheers,
Mike
