What’s everyone talking about in Loudoun this week? Here’s a quick wrapup of the hot topics in and around LoCo:
- Much needed renovations at Loudoun Valley High School: The school board finally appears to be listening to the parents, students, teachers, and administrators at the 50 year old school. Badly needed renovations are now scheduled for the 2014 fiscal year.
- Supervisors looking at deeper budget cuts for 2013: The Board of Supervisors is considering a plan to cut $50 million from the 2013 budget; budget markup sessions are set to begin Monday, and supervisors will meet with the school board on Wednesday.
- Potentially “Violent Act” at Simpson Middle averted: Concerned student alerted parents, who reached out to Leesburg police. The student who was “considering committing a violent act” was brought in (with the cooperation of the parents) for psychiatric evaluation.
- Dulles Airport Adds Charging Stations: As part of a pilot program, the airport is installing four charging stations, giving eight electric vehicle parking slots in the daily parking garage.
Go out and enjoy some sunshine, have a great weekend!
Cheers,
Heather
