Time for the Fair!

This is the week! The annual Loudoun County Fair starts today and runs through Saturday the 28th. Gates are open at 4pm today; and tonight is the Miss Loudoun Pageant. Every night beginning Monday, one of the 4H clubs is putting on a dinner. The carnival portion opens tomorrow at 6 pm, with plenty of rides for the kids.

If you have never attended before, the fairgrounds are located on Dry Mill Road just outside of Leesburg. The daily gate fees are $10 per adult and $5 for children 6 to 12 (kiddos under six are free). You can buy a weekly pass for $25 per adult and $10 per child at the gate, too, if you prefer. The carnival rides will cost extra and the number of tickets required per ride varies, but they do offer an “all you can ride” wristband program for Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. Wednesday is children’s day, with activities like a bubblegum blowing contest and a firefighter training show.

The gate schedule: open from 4-11 pm on Sunday and Monday, and then 9 am- 11 pm Tuesday to Saturday.

Here’s some of the highlights for the week:

  • Pig Scramble (Sunday)
  • Stoney Roberts Demolition Derby (Monday)
  • Freestyle BMX Bike Show (Tuesday and Wednesday)
  • The Fabulous Hubcaps concert (Wednesday)
  • Masters of the Chainsaw (Thursday, Friday)
  • Professional Rodeo (Thursday, Saturday)
  • Kiss-A-Pig contest (Saturday)
Hope that you come by and enjoy, it’s a fantastic event!
Cheers,
Heather
