We Play (Golf) For 24 With Redwood Gives Back

Maddie plays golf for 24

Sunday afternoon, we had the pleasure of helping host a golf tournament at Top Golf in Ashburn as part of Century 21 Redwood’s charitable initiative, Redwood Gives Back. Redwood Gives Back has raised thousands of dollars for numerous charities, including building homes for hurricane displaced families in Haiti, but this is the first time we’ve done a golf tournament. Obviously with Mike’s 18 years of experience as a PGA professional before becoming a Realtor, this was a little bit like old times for us.

We had a crew of 80 excited golfers competing at Top Golf on Sunday, May 6th, with the proceeds benefiting the Madison Small Foundation. This charity is close to our hearts: Madison Small was a local softball player at Broad Run high school that suddenly passed away of meningitis during the 2015 high school season. Since then, her family has honored her by creating a foundation to support the local community, local efforts and causes in her memory. Our softball-playing daughters have had the honor of playing in the softball tournament that benefits the foundation. If you’ve ever seen someone local sporting a #WePlayFor24 shirt or hat, that’s for Madison, as she wore number 24 for her entire playing career.

We wanted to find a way to help the foundation, and our Redwood Gives Back crew stepped in to help make that happen. Between the golf registrations, the food and drink donations from Atlantic Coast Mortgage and Highland Title, and the raffle prizes assembled by Century 21 Redwood’s agents, we were able to raise $5000 for the foundation in a single day. There was lots of laughter, some great golf, good food, and a ton of fun. Here’s some photos from the day, and you can see the full set here.

And a good time was had by all.

Cheers,

Heather
