If you live in Leesburg in the Tavistock Farms, Kincaid Forest, Stratford or Oak Lawn neighborhoods, you may have heard about this before now, but in case you haven’t, Loudoun County plays to extend Crosstrail Boulevard and Kincaid Boulevard. They held a public information session on November 8th, and here’s what the “Project Concept” looks like:
The plans show a 0.2 mile extension of Kincaid Boulevard, to meet up with the 1.2 mile construction of Crosstrail Boulevard. The final location and alignments have not been determined yet (the graphic above says it’s conceptual only), but plans show for it to eventually extend to a Dulles Greenway exit on one side, and to attach to an extended River Creek Parkway on the other. Those final completions would give some great access to Route 7 East for the residents on that side of Leesburg (also making for an easy trip to the new Wegman’s shopping center, where the new movie theater is going in).
One more immediate benefit will be great access to Phil Bolen Park, which is under construction and will have numerous baseball, soccer, and football fields. The plans also show pedestrian sidewalks and bicycle lanes, too. The timeline shows preliminary plans to be submitted in January for county, town and VDOT review, with the Board of Supervisors voting on alignment in the spring. I’ll certainly keep you posted whenever more information on the project becomes available.
