The times, they are a’ changing…

Some days, it’s hard to believe that it’s been eight years since I got started in real estate. Or six years since I first started blogging. LocoMusings came into being in mid-December, 2007, and has been a focal point of my life and business ever since.  As many of you know, I started out as a journalist who loved houses, and ended up in real estate. My love of Loudoun County, of homes, and of writing, combined to create this blog. It’s been a labor of love from the very beginning, when I had to explain to most folks exactly what a blog was.

Writing this blog has opened so many doors for me, both to prospective clients and to readers who just appreciate what I’m trying to do. What I’ve built here has given me the opportunity to speak and teach all around the country, and allowed me to meet lots of amazing people along the way. It’s also opened a door to me for an opportunity that I just can’t pass up.

I have accepted a position at the National Association of Realtors, as their Director of Social Business Practice. (Kind of a mouthful, huh?) I will be based out of the Washington DC office. Among other duties, I will help oversee NAR’s social media policies, strategies, and guidelines across the organization. It’s a role for which I think I’m uniquely suited, and I am very much looking forward to the opportunity and the challenge.  Anyone who knows me is aware that I am very passionate about improving the real estate industry, and this role will certainly give me the ability to have a broader impact.

As my loyal, LoCo readership, what does this mean for you? LoCoMusings will continue, under the guiding hand of my (mostly silent) partner and husband, Michael. He will be here to answer your questions, keep you updated, and handle your real estate needs, along with the help of the rest of the crew at Redwood Realty. You will certainly see some subtle changes here as I step back from an active role. Our hope is that you will still get all of the information and terrific service that we’ve been providing for the last eight years.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your conversations, your support, your friendship, and your business. Life is a journey, and an adventure, and I am grateful to have you along for the ride.

Cheers,
Heather

UPDATE: As of 2017, Heather is back with the LoCo Real Estate team, bringing back all that she learned to our clients!
